Ramdas Athavale pats Modi, snubs Mayawati
Mumbai, Jul 30 (UNI) Republican party of India (A) President Ramdas Athavale today appreciated Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi for handling the situation after the serial bomb blasts in Ahmedabad.
Talking to reporters, Mr Athavale, MP, said subsequent to the serial blasts at Ahmedabad, the way Mr Modi is handling the situation is commendable.
''Everybody should come together to fight against terrorism,'' he said. About UP chief minister Mayawati, he said she is following Brahminical thinking instead of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's thoughts.
He said, during his meeting with Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil he had requested for increase in the police staff in the state.
Athavale said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has assured him that inflation would come down to 7 per cent within a few months.
He announced that a rally of RPI would be organised at Ramleela maidan in New Delhi on December 1.
