Chandigarh, Jul 30 (UNI) The Punjab government has made arrangements for flying over the body of singer Ishmeet, who died due to drowning in Male, to Ludhiana after it arrives at New Delhi.
Expressing shock over the sudden demise of the singing teen sensation yesterday, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said in the death of the winner of the Star Voice of India contest, the country had lost a budding and talented singer.
''The country and Punjab were proud of him,'' he added.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Badal said that on the request of the deceased singer's family, the government had made arrangements for bringing his body to Ludhiana from New Delhi by chartered aircraft.
The government would pay for the aircraft, he added, while pointing out that the state government officers in the national capital had been given instructions in this regard.
The Chief Minister has directed the Ludhiana district administration to make all arrangements for Ishmeet's funeral.
The body is expected to arrive in Ludhiana by this evening and the cremation is expected to take place tomorrow.
