Priety, Shashi Tharoor for Priyadarshni Academy Global Awards

Mumbai, Jul 30 (UNI) Bollywood actress Preity Zinta and former Under Secretary General of UNO Shashi Tharoor have been selected for the 'Priyadarshni Academy Global Awards 2008', to be held on September 19 in the city.

An announcement to this effect was made by Priyadarshni Academy Chairman Nanik Rupani at a news conference held at the Indian Merchants' Chamber here yesterday.

Revealing the highlights of what is in store at its special Silver Jubilee Global Awards Function, Mr Rupani said besides Ms Zinta and Mr Tharoor, the other renowned global awardees include Blackberry's Founder and Inventor Jim Balsillie, Prognosis Inventor Steve Killelea and eminent Orthopaedician Dr R F Beramji.

He said Dr Michael Nobel, Chairman of the Nobel Charitable Trust, and Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel will be the Guests of Honour at the star-studded ceremony.

Besides Mr Rupani, other prominent members of the Academy present on the occasion were IMC Vice President Gul Kripalani, Global Awards Advisory Committee Member Poonam Dhillon and Global Awards Advisory Committee Chairman Dr R A Mashelkar.
