Bangalore, Jul 30 (UNI) An additional grand of Rs 25 crore has been sanctioned to the police force in Karnataka to purchase modern equipment in the wake of the serial blasts in the city last week.
Announcing this in the Karnataka Assembly Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, during his reply to a debate on budget for 2008-09, said the amount should be spent towards purchase of well equipped vehicles, firearms and ammunition.
He stressed the need to instill moral courage and training to the police force.
He called upon the youth from the minority sections to come forward to condemn such anti-social activities and said that there should not be any intervention in the working of the police while they ensured the safety of the people.
He said though tension had prevailed in the city following serial bomb blasts, peace prevailed after some time. However, a strict vigil was on in the city, he added.
