Indian challenge in singles ends in World Junior Squash

Chennai, Jul 30 (UNI) The Indian challenge in the invidivual events ended in the World Junior Squash Championship being held at Zurich in Switzerland early today.

The two Indians Vikram Malhotra and Aditya Jagtap went down fighting to higher ranked opponents, though the former managed to enter the pre-qaurters before going down to second seeded and favourite Mohd El Shorbagy of Egypt 7-9, 7-9, 7-9 after leading 5-0 in the first game.

Vikram had earlier defeated his France opponent Petrucci Camille 9-3, 9-7, 9-1 in the round 32, before losing in the quarters.

The other Indian Aditya Jagtap who had an impressive run in the tournament lost the first two games badly, showed signs of a fight back in the third before losing to his more experienced opponent Herik Mustonen of Finland 0-9, 0-9, 6-9 in the round 32.

The players took three days off before they would return back in action for the team championships commencing on August 2.
