Eight bogies of goods train derailed near Puttur
Mangalore, July 30: Eight bogies of a goods train on Wednesday, July 30 derailed at Golthamajalu in Hubli division of South Western Railway (SWR), affecting train service between Mangalore and Bangalore.
Railway sources said the engine and bogies, carrying gravel, jumped the tracks allegedly due to a fault in the welding of rails. Following the incident, the Mangalore-bound train from Bangalore was stopped at Puttur and passengers were sent to their destinations in buses. Mangalore-Bangalore train services were cancelled for the day following the incident.
