Srinagar Jul 30 (UNI) A Cental Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan died near holy Amarnath cave in south Kashmir himalayas, official sources said today.
They said constable Ram Pratap Jat of 40 battalion CRPF was deployed for Yatra duty at holy Cave since the commencement of the two-month-long pilgrimage on June 18.
Mr Ram collapsed and died before he could be shifted to medical camp, they said adding the cause of death was being ascertained.
More than 50 people, including three locals, have died since the the pilgrimage began. Majority of them died due to heart attack.
More than five lakh pilgrims have so far visited the holy shrine from Baltal and Pahalgam routes.
