Bihar assembly adjourned sine die after Pandemononium
Patna, Jul 30 (UNI) The brief monsoon session of the Bihar Assembly was adjourned sine-die today before schedule, as Opposition members stalled the proceeding on issues of minority welfare and implementation of Sachchar committee recommendations.
As the House reassembled for the post-lunch session, Opposition members carrying placards, vociferously demanded immediate steps for minority welfare and ensure implementation of the recommendation of the Sachchar committee by the state government.
When repeated pleas by speaker Udai Narayan Choudhari failed to pacify the members, he adjourned the House sine die before the scheduled time on the last day of the session today. The Monsoon session began on July 24.
Earlier in the pre-lunch session also the Opposition members created pandamonium inside the House and repeatedly rushed to the well to stall the proceeding.
They also prevented the Speaker from carrying out the debate on the issue of price rise, forcing deputy Chief Minister-cum-Finance minister Sushil Kumar Modi to lay the government reply on the table without reading it.
The first supplementary budget of 2008-09 and related appropriation bill, Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences amendment bill--2008 and Aryabhatt Gyan Vishwa Vidyalay bill 2008 were passed during the five-day session.
