Tirunelveli, July 29 (UNI) A special team from Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Madurai today interrogated incarcerated terrorist Abdul Gafoor, who was arrested two days ago on the charges of hatching a conspiracy to trigger serial bomb blasts in Chennai and Tirunelveli on Independence day.
Police sources here said besides the state intelligence agencies, RAW officials conducted a detailed inquiry with Abdul Gafoor, a hard core member of the banned All India Jihad Committee to find out whether he had any links with international terrorist outfits.
An intensive search is on to nab a few more associates of Abdul Gafoor.
Meanwhile, police have destroyed one KG of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that was seized from a hide out at Pandikoil in Madurai, at Valanadu Shooting Range in Tuticorin district.
Police have made tight security arrangements in and around Palayamkottai Central Prison, where Abdul Gafoor was lodged.
He was remanded to 15 days judicial custody by a local court.
