Hyderabad, Jul 29: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday, July 29 urged Union Minister of state for Youth Affairs and Sports M S Gill to have a second look at the selection of women weightlifters from India for Olympics in view of the controversy surrounding the non-selection of Pujari Sailaja.
In a letter to the Union Minister, the Chief Minister said Pujari Sailaja, the woman weightlifter in 75 kg category from Andhra Pradesh, was denied a berth in the Indian team for Olympics, though she qualified in the selection trials. ''I understand that Sailaja has shown excellent performance in the camp and considerable improvement on her previous performances. Moreover, she is very likely to fetch a medal for India in 75 kg category,'' he added.
