Mysore, July 28 (UNI) Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) Director Dr V Prakash today stressed the need for contribution of Universities in knowledge reach out to society for economic upliftment of the country.
Delivering the foundation day lecture of the University of Mysore here, he said the University must put all its efforts in ensuring the highest of the highest education and become a World leader in generating breakthroughs in any field and to prepare people to meet the challenging demands to reach out to the demands of the knowledge society. It must become a partner in economic development and global competativeness.
Stating that the universities must also ensure transfer of the knowledge from its campus to the rural areas through defined mechanism and measures, in a reverse thinking and attract investors whose knowledge today could be much better with the complementing of the universities knowledge and that would enhance a good public private partnerships. The reskilling and training for their own staff and perhaps other administrative staff was an important move for ensuring a better performances in the system.
He said that it was vital that universities to show to policy makers, funding agencies, stake holders and others of what it was giving back to the society quantitatively, therefore, the need for more investments in university and assistance into making them create bigger in quality and size of performance, he added.
It was time to need for all of us to join hands and make a net work to make Mysore perhaps a science city with more then 52 colleges nearly 12 professional schools with university of Mysore, CFTRI and other 9 central institutes being places here, he said.
