Lexington, Jul 28 (UNI) Somdev Devvarman of India won his maiden his maiden ATP challenger tournament by defeating Robert Kendrick in straight sets in the final of the 50,000 dollar Lexington tournament here.
Somdev, who had defeated top players in the event including second seed Bobby Reynolds of America and Belgium's Xavier Malisse in the tournament, pipped his third seeded American opponent 6-3, 6-3 to win the title.
The Indian qualifier, who was placed 546th before the tournament, improved his career best singles ranking to 345 on the ATP charts.
He earned 55 points after the win and became richer by 7200 dollars.
