Ayodhya, Jul 28 (UNI) Security has been multiplied in this holy city for the coming ''Saawan Mela'' in wake of the terrorist blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad.
The 15-day Saawan Mela would commence on August four.
Talking to UNI, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) R K S Rathpra said ''Taking note of the recent terrorist attacks and receival of threats in Uttar Pradesh, police strength has been increased.'' The mela compound has been divided into six zones and 24 sectors and Close Circuit Television (CCTv) cameras installed all around, he added.
Twelve Additional Superintendet of Police (ASPs), 24 Deputy SPs, 40 inspectors, 250 sub-inspectors, 100 head constables, 1,000 constables, 10 women sub-inspectors, 100 women constables and as many as 2,000 homeguards would comprise the police force, the SSP informed.
Besides, 12 companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and bomb disposal squads would be pressed in service.
Giving information about by the arrangements, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Divya Prakash Giri said the areas were being divided for better co-ordination. To control the huge rush, watch towers would be set-up and fencing done.
Boats would also be pressed in service for devouts, who would take holy dip in river Saryu.
