Registration numbers of seized cars fake
Surat, Jul 28 (UNI) After the seizure of explosives from two stationary cars here, police in its preliminary investigation found that the registration number of both the vehicles were dubious.
According to police, during the investigation it was found that the registration number of both the vehicles were fake and that they were procured from Maharastra.
Police today continued to check vehicles bearing registration numbers of other states at highway points.
A manhunt has been launched to trace the couple, who was last seen with the Wagon-R car that was found in Hirabaug circle in Varachha. Police is also trying to prepare sketches on the basis of version given by local people, who last saw them.
Meanwhile, police officials found one more vehicle moving in suspicious condition at Bhagyoday Hotel in National Highway 8 near Kosamba in Surat District this morning, bearing Vadodara passing.
The District police officials along with the bomb disposal squad inspected the vehicle, but recovered only two fake number plates inside.
DSP Bhatti said ''Both number plates bear Ahmedabad passing and we are checking whether the numbers are registered or not. Till now, it can't be said that this vehicle has any links with the explosives found in Surat, but we are investigating the matter, he added.
