Tirupati, Jul 28 (UNI) Senior Congress Party leader and OBC and MPs Forum Convener V Hanumantha Rao, today urged Congress President Sonia Gandhi to provide more reservation for the Backward Classes(BCs) in the coming assembly elections to the Andhra Pradesh .
Addressing a press conference here, he urged the Chief Minister Y S Rajashekara Reddy to allocate more seats to the BCs in the assembly poll for strengthening the party and to secure an absolute majority in the assembly and in parliament.
Mr Rao alleged that justice was not meted out to the BCs for the last 60 years. The party would lose heavily, if they were neglected, he added.
He lauded the AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, who asked Congress volunteers during his two-day visit to Hyderabad recently to take the State and Centre's people welfare schemes at the grass-root level.
The Left parties aim was to obstruct the developments initiated by the UPA government and encourage China, despite the fact that the Beijing itself had set-up a nuclear power project, targeting 40,000 MW by 2020, he alleged.
He also urged Dr Reddy to take immediate steps in providing reservation to BCs in APPSC Group preliminary exams.
