Lucknow, Jul 28: Heavy rain continued to make life diffacult for people in Uttar Pradesh who were yet to get relief from flood that has swamped several villages.
As per the reports, 11 people have died due to the falling of walls and drowning overnight, taking the death count in the state to 307 so far. The fresh casualty comprised nine in Gorakhpur and two in Basti. According to the information received from Gorakhpur district, the turbulent rivers have taken a down-trend. However, Gorakhpur-Varanasi highway has been blocked for vehicular movement due to the danger posed by overflowing Aami river. Official sources confirmed that all in all 653 villages were running affected from the flood in the district, hile 230 were completely submerged.
Meanwhile, water has seeped in Maulana-Kudriya dam and developed cracks in it. District administration was making efforts to control the situation and repair dams. The administration has called two platoon PAC and pressed in service eight boats.
