Kolkata, Jul 28 (UNI) The much hyped Cricket Association of Bengal's yearly election for the eight-member office bearers at Eden Gardens tomorrow assumed significance with former president Jagmohan Dalmiya taking on incumbent Prasun Mukherjee.

The city's former top cop and CAB president Prasun Mukherjee and his predecessor Jagmohan Dalmiya both claimed majority as the countdown began for the single day showdown at the Eden Gardens.

Word of mouth campaigning and lobbying among voters had been on for months when former BCCI boss Dalmiya let his rivals know he was returning to Eden through a democratic process.

Some 119 of the 121 constituents of the CAB are entitled to cast ballot this time to elect the officer bearers.

The election would be for the post of president, four vice-presidents, two joint secretaries and one treasurer.

Two electors will not vote, including the ABP sports Club, while the Malda District Sports Association has forfeited voting right for technical reasons, CAB soruces today said.

In 2007 Prasun Mukherjee was elected uncontested. Dalmiya did not fight as some heavyweights in state politics were directly involved in CAB's elections and since then polls in the state cricket body have taken centre stage.

Dalmiya resigned from post of CAB president in early 2007 after his name cropped up in some cases which are sub-judice.
