Court grants bail to 16 medical college student in Kangra
Dharamshala, Jul 28 (UNI) Sixteen arrested medical students of Dr R P Government Medical College, Tanda, who were arrested by the police in connection with rioting and arson in Kangra town, were bailed out by the court late last evening but eighteen more were wanted in the case, police said today.
Kangra SP Atul Fulzele said the students were produced in a local court, which granted bail, in view of the coming examination.
He said the parents of the 16 arrested students arrived here yesterday and offered compensation to the shopkeeper whose goods were destroyed in the rioting by the students.
Eighteen more students, who were at run after the incident, also wanted in the case, he said and added efforts were on arrest them.
Parents of the students and Kangra Beopar Mandal office bearers also held talks to defuse the situation in order to bridge the gap between the medical students and the residents of Kangra town.
The SP said after the remaining 18 students were arrested the challan would be produced before the court.
