Thermal plant in Hisar distt to start transmission next year

Rewari, July 27 (UNI) The Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Plant, Khedar in Hisar district was being constructed on war footing and more than 39 per cent of its work had been completed and it would start generation of power by the end of the year 2009.

This was stated by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda after inaugurating a 33 KV substation here today.

He said that a massive plan has been implemented to get 5000 MW of additional power in the state. The construction work at 1500 MW Thermal Power Project at Jharli in district Jhajjar was also going on at a fast pace and it would be commissioned before the ensuing Commonwealth Games. Haryana would get 750 MW power from this project.

He said that an independent power producer, China and Light Power Ltd would construct 1320 MW coal based Thermal Plant in district Jhajjar from where Haryana would get 90 per cent of the generated power.

Apart from this, he said, Haryana Government had tied up with various companies in Orissa and Gujrat to buy 2000 MW power. He said that 600 MW Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Plant at Yamunanager had already started generation of electricity.

A 2800 MW atomic power plant would also be set up in district Fatehabad, he announced.

The Chief Minister said that power transmission and distribution system was also being augmented in a big way. The government had planned to construct 132 new substations of various levels including three 220 KV, eighteen of 132 KV, sixteen of 66 KV and ninety five of 33 KV during the current financial year.

In addition, capacity of more than 100 sub stations would be augmented in view of growing load due to rapid industrialization, urbanisation and agricultural activities.

He said that to improve distribution system, the agricultural and domestic load in rural areas was being segregated. All the lengthier and overloaded feeders were being divided into feeders of proper load and length, he added.

High voltage distribution system (HVDS) was being created in all villages of the state which was of international level, he said.
