Railways must keep in mind all mega projects-Jena

Bhubaneswar,Jul 27 (UNI) Railway Board Chairman Kalyan Chandra Jena today said the railways should formulate plans and policies keeping in mind implementation of all mega industrial projects.

''Railway infrastructure will be the most important component of any big project like steel plant, oil refinery or Special Economic Zone (SEZ),'' Mr Jena said while addressing a joint meeting of the Orissa government and railway officials.

He maintained that all large projects took extra time for final implementation due to initial non-inclusion or non-planning of railway element in that project.

Orissa,the Railway Board Chairman said, was poised for great industrial leap in the near future. He stressed the need of keeping Railways in the policy frame work of any mega industrial project,he remarked.

Mr Jena appreciated the projected industrial boom in Orissa and advised the state government officials to take advantage of Railway infrastructure and include those while planning mega projects from the initial stage itself.

Addressing the gathering,East Coast Railway(ECoR) General Manager A K Goyal said the key players in the industrial sector, including the policy and project implementing authorities like IDCO, could take full assistance from the expertise of East Coast Railway.
