Hyderabad, Jul 27: All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today directed the members of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) to motivate the party cadre to create awareness among the people on the benefits of the nuclear deal with the US.
Addressing the press conference here, APCC president D Srinivas said Mr Gandhi, while adderessing the PCC, asked the members to create awareness among the people by motivating the party cadre on the benefits of the deal and the importance of the nuclear energy for future energy needs of the country.
Mr Gandhi spent nearly two hours at the party headquarters and participated in various programmes arranged by the state unit.
He said it was the responsibility of the party cadre to take up various welfare programmes and developmental schemes being implemented by the UPA and the State Governments to gain the confidence of the people.
He also said the Congress could alone look after the welfare of all sections of the people. The party cadre should monitor the implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarentee Scheme (NREGS) and ensure all eligible farmers were getting the benefits from the loan waiver.
Praising the state Government for taking up various welfare schemes, he said Andhra Pradesh always stood like the backbone of the party and expressed confidence that similar support would be extended by the people and to party in the next elections.
