Magisterial inquiry into Dogra's cremation incident
Jammu, Jul 27: A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the alleged incident of disrespect to the body of Kuldeep Dogra, whose death on July 23 rekindled protests on Amarnath row, following allegations of use of liquor and kerosene oil in his cremation, an official spokesman said on Tuesday, July 29.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Sudhanshu Pandey on Monday, July 28 announced a magisterial inquiry regarding the cremation of the body of Dogra at Bishnah by the police without religious sensitivity, the spokesman said. Meanwhile, a cheque of Rs one lakh was handed to the widow of Dogra as ex-gratia relief. The cheque was released by DC Jammu to Tehsildar Bishnah for forwarding it to the bereaved widow.
''The magisterial inquiry would be completed within seven days and if anybody's found guilty of showing disrespect to the body of Kuldeep Dogra, would be punished sternly,'' Pandey said at a meeting. He appealed to the people to help restore normalcy in Jammu.
