Ahmedabad, Jul 27: A live explosive device was discovered outside the Nupur hospital in Citylite area and was successfully defused by the bomb disposal squad. This happen just twenty-four hours after 17 serial blasts rocked the old city of Ahmedabad killing 45 and injuring 162.
Surat police officials rushed to the area were the bomb was found. The bomb disposal squad successfully defused the bomb and the police confirmed that ammonium nitrate traces were found in the explosive. It was a hospital servant informed the police of the suspected bomb, which was reportedly placed in the hospital lawn. After which, the police rushed to the area, took the live bomb to a place away from the hospital and then defused it.
Surat on high alert. After the bomb was defused the City Police Commissioner requested the people to remain indoors. He said that the city is on high alert and continuous search for possible live bombs is on.
He also added, "For the safety of the locals, all movie halls and theatres will remain shut."
This is the second bomb defused in the state. Earlier, in the morning another live bomb was successfully defused in Hatkeshwar, Ahmedabad.
