Bar Association president among 27 lawyers arrested in Jammu
Jammu, Jul 27 (UNI) At least 27 lawyers, protesting against the Jammu and Kashmir government on Amarnath land row, were taken into custody in the winter capital today.
Eighteen lawyers, including Bar Association of Jammu president B S Slathia, were arrested by police when they were attempting to reach Parade Ground, the venue decided by the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti (SAYSS) for paying tributes to Kuldeep Dogra, who killed himself in protest against government for revoking the order of diverting forest land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) on July 23.
''Lawyers, including the Bar Association president, were taken to preventive custody,'' a police official told UNI.
Nine lawyers, including senior advocate S S Anand Lehar, were taken into custody from outside the Raj Bhawan later in the afternoon, sources said.
