Arrangements for Me'raj-un-Nabi finalised in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jul 27 (UNI) Authorities in Kashmir valley are gearing up for celebration of Me'raj-un-Nabi festival on July 31, when lakhs of people will join the night-long prayers in different mosques, khankhas and other religious places.

Officials tody said administration in all the districts in the valley held a meeting to finalise the arrangements for the festival, a month before the start of holy month of Ramzan.

The main function will be held at Hazratbal shrine, which houses the holy relic of Prophet Mohammad where more than 20 lakh people are expected to pray during a fortnight-long celebrations.

The district administration has installed 110 more public water posts at Hazratbal while water tankers would also be pressed into service during the Urs.

The Power Development Department has installed more street and flash lights in and around the Shrine and kept a diesel generator as stand-by to tide over any crisis.

The Health department has set up 12 medical camps from Pantha Chowk to Hazratbal with adequate medicos, para-medicos and medicines.

All roads leading to the Shrine have been upgraded and a mobile toilet van been arranged for the convenience of devotees. Besides, four big garbage dumping containers have also been installed at the Shrine.

A control room under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner is already functional at Hazratbal to monitor and coordinate the functioning of various departments.

It was decided to operate buses and other transport service from different parts of the valley to holy shrine during the Urs.
