Yajman will lead the U14 team in World Junior Tennis Championships

New Delhi, Jul 26 (UNI) Non playing captain Sunil Yajaman will lead the boys U-14 India team in the Finals of the World Junior Tennis Championships scheduled to be held at Prostejov, Czech Republic from August 3-9.

Ronit Bisht of Delhi, Digvijaysingh Mehta of Chandigarh and Ramkumar Ramanathan of Tamil Nadu are the other members of the squad.

The same Indian team had qualified for the World Finals by securing the 3rd place in Asia Oceania Qualifying zone which was held at Shenzhen, China in April this year.

The top four teams from Asia Oceania qualifies for the World Finals which constitutes the top 16 teams of the World.

The team will leave for Prostejov on August 1.

Ronit Bisht and Digvijaysingh Mehta are already in Europe as a part of the ITF Asian Under 14 team to participate in Tennis Europe Under 14 Circuit.

''AITA is proud that the team qualified itself to the World Finals to be in the prestigious World Group. AITA has selected the best players in the country to be a part of the team and I'm sure under the experienced hands of Captain Sunil Yajaman, the team will do well in the competition,'' Secretary General of AITA, Anil Khanna said.

Captain of the team Sunil Yajaman said ''I'm confident of the boys putting up a good show. Ronit and Digvijay are already in Europe playing the Under circuit and they would have got valuable experience playing on European clay which should help them in the WJT. The team is elated and are eagerly looking forward to play in the competition.'' UNI RKM AB GC1753
