Withdrawal of POTA increases terrorism: Venkaiah
Bangalore, Jul 26 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu today alleged that withdrawal of the POTA by the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre has led to increase in terrorist activities in the country.
Referring to yesterday's serial bomb blast in the city, Mr Naidu told newspersons here that by withdrawing the POTA, the Centre had sent a wrong signal of being soft to terrorist activities.
He said the resources before the state governments were limited to deal with terrorist activists. It was the duty of the Union Government to take all necessary steps to curb terrorism and the Centre should give a strong signal against terrorism in the country, he added.
The BJP would launch a nation wide programme, from tomorrow to August 2, to expose the way Prime Minister Manmohan Singh won the trust vote in Parliament, Mr Naidu said.
Leader of the opposition leader in Lok Sabha L K Advani would launch the programme in New Delhi, he added.
