Vijayawada, Jul 26 (UNI) As part of the centenary birth celebrations of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Bezawada Gopala Reddy, the Writers Associations from four districts in the state will conduct 'Telugu Basha Samskruti Chaitanya Yatra' from August two to five.
Addressing a press conference here, Andhra Pradesh Hindi Academy president Yarlagedda Lakshmi Prasad said the Yatra would be inaugurated by State Animal Husbandary Minister Mandali Buddha Prasad. The Yatra would start from Machilipatnam on August two and culminate at Nellore on August five, Mr Prasad informed.
Andhra Pradesh Governor Narayan Datt Tiwari, Union Minister Pranabaka Lakshni, state ministers and BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu would also particiapate in the function on August five, he added.
As per the UNESCO report, if proper care was not taken for Telugu language, it would extinct in the next 20 years, Mr Prasad warned.
He also urged the Centre to provide classical language status to Telugu.
