Rahul Gandhi interacts with NREGP workers in AP village
Hyderabad, Jul 26 (UNI) AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi today interacted with the workers of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) and participated in social audit of the scheme along with workers at Bahatpur village in Mahaboobnagar district, about 150 km from here.
Mr Gandhi interacted with the beneficiaries of the Wage Employment Scheme, launched by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Anantapur district in the state in 2006.
State Rural Development Department officials made a power point presentation on the implementation of the scheme and apprised the young Congress leader about the success of the scheme in the State.
Mr Gandhi, who came to Andhra Pradesh as part of his two-day visit, immediately proceeded to the village from Rajiv Gandhi International airport, where he was welcomed by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, AICC general secretary and state Congress affairs incharge Veerappa Moily and state party president D Srinivas.
Media was not allowed to cover Mr Gandhi's visit in the state.
He was scheduled to participate in National Students Union of India (NSUI) and Youth Congress meetings this evening and state Congress meeting tomorrow in the capital city.
