Passport office to be opened in city: Minister
Mangalore, Jul 26 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Labour Oscar Fernades said a full-fledged passport office would be opened here to facilitate the process for people proceeding abroad.
Talking to newspersons here, he said a final report on the issue had been addressed to the Union ministry of Aviation.
The minister said a proposal was made to the Centre for setting up a rail-road facility in the city in association with the Konkan Railway Corporation (KRC). Another proposal to start a day-train service between Mangalore and Hassan was under consideration by the Railway ministry, he added.
Mr Fernades said the United Progressive Alliance(UPA) Government had proposed to set up 50,000 schools in the country for technical education to the youth from beedi workers family. The Centre had also proposed to set-up 500 skilled-training schools in Daxina Kannada, he added.
He said the Union Government would render assistance to the State Government, following the serial bomb blasts in Bengaluru.
