CM discusses drought situation with PM
Mumbai, Jul 26 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi and had a detailed discussions about the drought-like situation in the state with him.
In the meeting held yesterday, he requested the Prime Minister to extend maximum help to the state and Dr Singh has assured him that a Central team would soon be sent to take review of the situation in the state.
Presently there is acute power shortage in the state, hence the Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister for intervening and extending 500 MW power to the state. The Chief Minister also congratulated the Prime Minister on winning the vote of Confidence in the Lok Sabha.
Mr Deshmukh also met President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and wished her on completing one year in the office. The Chief Minister also met UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi at her residence and congratulated for winning the vote of confidence.
The Chief Minister wished Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterji on his birthday. He also attended a High Level meeting of Guru-Ta-Gaddi, under the Chairmanship of Union Minister for Home Shivraj Patil during his visit.
