Mumbai, Jul 25 (UNI) Pioneer of home entertainment, city-based Ultra Group today announced the investment of Rs 20 crore in western regional film industry to produce six Marathi, three Gujarati and a Hindi film.
Talking to UNI, Ultra Group MD Sushikumar Agrawal said, ''The first off the block would be a Marathi film 'Langda Marte Taanga', which will be out in September. We will raise the funds from internal accurals and will target both the multiplex audience in the urban areas and single screen audience in the small towns.'' He revealed that Ultra would steep up its production in 2009 to produce six Marathi, five-six Gujarati and upto two Hindi films, with a budget of Rs 50 crore.
Film production is a part of Ultra Group's expansion plan that includes merchandising and distribution. In the Rs 50 crore merchandising market, the company is holding early round of talks with Yash Chopra and Disney. Similarly, the company will also hold talks with channels for telecast and satellite rights of its 1,500 film catalogue and new productions.
