Chennai, Jul 25 (UNI) Former President A P J Abdul Kalam today said the trust vote won by the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre, has proved that the Indo-US nuclear deal was good for the country.
Talking to newspersons at the Airport here, Mr Kalam, who was here to participate in the 11th annunal workshop of Ullas Trust, said he had made it clear on many occasions that the deal was good for the country.
On asking how the deal would benefit the country, Mr Kalam advised them to visit his website, where he has detailed about the deal and how it would benefit the nation.
Taking questions from students after participating in the workshop of the Ullas Trust, Mr Kalam said the deal would go a long way in meeting the energy security of the country. ''The deal is good and it is essential to modernise country's nucelar technology,'' he added.
Later, interacting with the students, Mr Kalam exhorted the students to take a seven-point oath to help the poor and the needy and teach the illiterates.
''Whatever the mission is, my motto will be to work with integrity and succeed with integrity. I will always remember that let not my winged days, be spent in vain.
''I realise I have to set a great goal that will lead me to think high, work and realise the goal. My greatest friends will be great human beings, great teachers and great books,'' Mr Kalam said.
The former president said, ''My National Flag flies in my heart and I will work for removing the ignorance wherever needed, freedom from poverty and freedom from injustice.'' UNI WS KVV SW BD1935
