Stolen Jain temple idols recovered, 2 held
Chandigarh, Jul 25 (UNI) The Haryana Police has recovered the valuable idols stolen from the Digambar Jain Mandir in Jhajjar district and arrested the two culprits responsible for the theft.
The stolen idols of Padam Prabhu, Chanda Prabhu, Mahavir Swami and Chobisi Bhagwan were recovered from Sanjay and Sandeep of Bhiwani district who were nabbed in Jhajjar today, a police spokesman said today.
He said following a tip-off that two boys with a big bag containing stolen items were going to Sarafa Bajar for selling, the police tracked them down and recovered the priceless idols.
The duo was arrested and the idols worth crores of rupees were taken into the safe custody of the police.
On rigorous interrogation, the accused confessed that the idols had been stolen by them with the help of one Bijendra of Bhiwani in January 2008.
A police team had been deputed to arrest the third criminal involved in the theft, the spokesman said.
