Mysore, Jul 25 (UNI) The Association of Concerned and Informed Citizens of Mysore (ACICM) will intensify its agitation against the Karnataka Governemnt's decision to go ahead with the implementation of Chamalapura Thermal Power Project in the district.
Talking to newspersons, ACICM Convener M Lakshma said an indefinite dharna would be staged in front of the residence of Chief Minister's Parliamentary Secretary S A Ramadas, MLA, from July 30.
Describing the BJP Government as ''anti-people,'' he said Power Minister K S Eshwarappa, during a recent interaction with environmentalists and local people, had given an impression that the project had been shelved and no company had submitted their tenders for the project. However, he had admitted that 12 companies had come forward to take up the project in the Legislative Session.
The government had ''shocked'' the people by announcing that the Centre had given its nod for the project and the state government would go ahead with its implementation.
He also accused the BJP leaders of stepping back on their ''commitment'' as they had earlier promised to oppose the project.
However, after coming to power they had gone back on their assurances, he alleged.
He appealed to all the political party leaders and the people to join hands in the struggle against the project.
