Seven bomb blasts in Bangalore city, one killed and four injured

Bangalore, Jul 25(UNI) A woman was killed on the spot and four people injured, two of them seriously, in a serial bomb blast in seven places in the city this afternoon.

According to police, the first blast was reported in Madiwala junction and another place around 1340 hours in which Ms Shree Ravi, who was waiting for bus along with her husband was killed when an object hit her head from behind following the blast. Her husband Ravi and one other person was injured.

This was followed by another blast in five minutes near a drain in Adugodi area in which one person was injured seriously. After this blasts occurred near Mallya Hospital, R V College, Pantherapallya near Nayandahalli on Bangalore-Mysore road and Langford Road.

City Police Commissioner Shankar M Bidari, talking to newsmen on one of the blast sites, said these blasts occurred on footpaths and miscreants used improvised detonators and mobile phones to explode the device. Forensic experts and bomb disposal squads rushed to the scenes crime immediately and the areas were cordoned off by the police.

The Commissioner feared that miscreants conspired to disrupt the peace and tranquility of the city by indulging in anti social activities. He urged the people not to get panicky and carry on with their regular activities unmindful of blasts.

The injured were rushed to a private hospital for treatment.
