Police arrests 26 persons during night patrolling
Itanagar, Jul 25 (UNI) At least 26 revellers, including eight girls, were arrested by the night patrolling team in the state capital as well as Naharlogun.
Police said here today that all the youths were apprehended late last night as they were loitering in the streets, restaurants and wine shops, adding that seven wine shops had also been shut down by the administration for violating orders.
Patrolling during late night hours has been intensified by police and executive magistrates as part of the preventive and precautionary measures to contain growing crimes, as decided in a meeting on July 13.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Papum Pare district had also issued executive orders to the administrative, police and tax and excise officers as part of the preventive measures to contain growing crimes in the capital city, the sources informed.
The orders included regulating unauthorised selling of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), strictly monitoring wine shops and prohibiting consumption of liquor in public places.
Sudden spate of crimes in Itanagar had evoked strong protests from all quarters of the society and prompted the district administration to take necessary steps to curb it.
