One killed in Bangalore serial blasts, four injured
Bangalore, Jul 25 (UNI) A woman was killed on the spot and four people were injured, two of them seriously, in serial bomb blasts at seven places in the IT city this afternoon.
According to police, the first blast was reported in Madiwala junction and another place around 1340 hrs, killing one Shree Ravi, who was waiting for a bus along with her husband. Her husband Ravi and son were injured.
This was followed by another blast within five minutes near a drain in Adugodi in which one person was injured seriously. Soon, blasts rocked places near Mallya Hospital, R V College, Pantherapallya near Nayandahalli on Bangalore-Mysore highway and Langford Road.
The blast at Langford road left one injured.
City Police Commissioner Shankar M Bidari, talking to newspersons at one of the blast sites, said the blasts occurred on footpaths.
The miscreants used improvised detonators and mobile phones to trigger the blasts.
Forensic experts and bomb disposal squads rushed to the spot immediately and the areas were cordoned off by the police.
The Commissioner said it was an attempt by the miscreants to disrupt peace and tranquility in the city.
He urged the people not to panic.
The injured were rushed to a private hospital for treatment.
