Patna, Jul 25 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today came down heavily on Opposition Legislators for obstructing House proceedings without realising their possible impact on the electorate and the commoner.
In an informal chat with newsmen at his Assembly chamber here, the Chief Minister questioned the rational behind creating a pandemonic situation inside the House since morning by the Opposition ''when there was nothing big to oppose the government''.
Ridiculing the 'acts' of Opposition Legislators, particularly those belonging to the Rastriya Janta Dal(RJD), Mr Kumar without naming anyone said their image to the people could have improved further, had they sat quitely and taken part in a constructive debate and highlighted the faults.
Claiming that despite having limited resources, his government was leaving no stone unturned to improve the socio-economic condition of the general public by all means, Mr Kumar questioned the reason behind opposing the government plan to introduce photo ration card for all BPL people in the state this year.
'' When implemented this would benefit more than 1.39 crore people in the state, '' the Chief Minister said and urged the Opposition not to stall such a developmental scheme 'for the sake of Opposition'.
Regarding the Opposition's claim of ''total failure'' of the city civic authorities in terms of draining out rain water from most of the localities here resulting in severe inconvenience to the people, Mr Kumar partially accepting the blame said instead of criticising the government, they (Opposition MLAs) should come out with concrete proposals.
'' Moreover, we have no control over the rain god, '' he said referring to the recording of more than 990 mm of rainfall in Patna and its neighbourhood in about ten days which itself was an all time record.
He also promised all out efforts by all government agencies together to improve the present hellish situation of some localities at the earliest.
