Hyderabad, Jul 25 (UNI) The Election Commission(EC) today extended the deadline for publishing of final electoral rolls to September 15 from August 30, Chief Electoral Officer(CEO) I V Subba Rao said.

Talking to newspersons here, he said draft electoral rolls would be published on August one and claims and objections would be entertained till August 15.

Mr Rao said the number of polling booths would be increased by 10,457 to 66,431 for the forthcoming elections to enable the voters to exercise their franchise without difficulty. Every village with a population of about 1200 would be provided with a polling booth, he added.

Even after the publication of final rolls, voters, who find their names missing in the lists, can approach permanent photo centres being set up in mandals to set right the record.

The CEO said the electoral rolls would be made available in all the polling stations and post offices to facilitate the process.

People could access the electoral rolls by browsing the Election Commission website, too, he added.
