Ranchi, Jul 25 (UNI) In what may be termed as return gift to Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda for his ''remarkable effort'' to save the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre, the Congress today said it would not do anything that would destabilise his coalition government in the state.
This was announced by party state president and MLA Pradeep Balmuchu at a news conference here.
The sudden volte face, executed by the Congress, was a shot in the arms of Mr Koda, an Independent Legislator heading a coalition governemnt comprising the JMM, RJD, Congress and few other small groups, as the Congress for the past few months had been puttting pressure on him either to ''perform or perish''.
Mr Balmuchu today heaped praise on Mr Koda, saying he carried out ''a major role'' in convincing Mr Shibu Soren of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha to back the UPA Government in the floor test in Parliament on July 22.
The state Congress president, however, said the party would keep vigil on the performance of the government and if required would mobilise pubilc awareness about the issues that deserved ''serious concern''.
Union Minister Ajay Maken who is in-charge of party's state affairs in the state, immediately after taking charge launched a scathing attack on the Koda government setting dead lines for the beleagured Chief Minister.
Mr Maken repeatedly threatened to withdraw support to the UPA Government in the state.
Today, the party made it clear that it did not have any agenda to destabilise the government for the time-being.
