VHP takes exception to Centre's stand on Ram Setu
Chennai, July 24 (UNI) The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today took exception to the stand taken by the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre that Lord Rama himself had destroyed Ram Setu.
VHP International President S Vedantam, in a statement here, said it was a pity that eminent lawyes like Mr Fali Nariman, taking up cases of government and political parties, were in a predicament to present disinformation in their arguments.
Mr Nariman knew that ''Valimiki Ramayanam'' was the most authentic one and Valimiki was a contemporary of Lord Ram and himself a witness to the acts of Lord Ram.
Valimiki had not referred to the destruction of Setu, Mr Vedantham claimed.
Lord Ram showed the bridge to his wife Sita, while returning from Lanka and nowhere it was stated Lord Ram had destroyed the bridge, he said quoting ''Meetchi Padalam'' in Kamban Ramayanam.
