Teachers to go on indefinite strike
Bhopal, Jul 24 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Shikshak Congress (MPSC) has threatened to launch a state-wide indefinte strike in all educational institutions in September to press their 21-point demands.
MPSC president Ramnaresh Tripathy told reporters here today that prior to the strike they would observe token dharna in the state capital on August 13.
The demands included revision of pay at par with central scale, ban on taking non-teaching work from teachers and status and facilities to contract teachers and Gurujis at par with government teachers.
He said about 4.5 lakh teachers in the state were suffering owing to the 'faulty' educational policies of the government.
Expressing
concern
over
the
reports
of
teachers
committing
suicide
in
many
districts,
Mr
Tripathy
said,
''It
is
very
serious
matter
and
we
will
not
sit
idle
if
the
government
failed
to
improve
the
lot
of
teachers.''
