St Stephen's student hangs self after 'unexpected' exam result
New Delhi, Jul 24 (UNI) Exam performance stress took another toll in the city with a 21-year-old student of the prestigious St Stephen's College allegedly committing suicide by hanging herself at her Kalyanpuri residence in east Delhi this afternoon.
Upasana Sahu, final year student of Economics (Honours) was found hanging from the ceiling fan by her mother after which she reported the matter, police said.
''No external injuries have been found on her body.'' The girl's mother, who is a teacher in a private school, had returned from school to her Ghazipur Road 'Taj Apartments' residence at about 1500 hrs.
She was rushed to the Lal Bahadur Shashtri Hospital where doctors declared her 'brought dead'.
Her father, who works with a law firm, said today her BA (final year) result was announced, which she watched on the internet and after not faring well, and being alone at home, she took the extreme step.
''She was fine all these days and did not show any signs of depression.'' In her three page hand written suicide note Upasana said she was solely responsible for 'this' and took the extreme step as she was depressed with her performance.
