Los Angeles, Jul 24 (UNI) An off-colour Sania Mirza crashed out of the USD 600,000 East West Bank Classic tournament here after going down 4-6, 3-6 to Meng Yuan of China.
The Indian was unimpressive with her serve as the unseeded Yuan broke her twice in the first set.
Sania tried to stage a comeback in the the second set, but her serve again let her down. She was able to capitalise on just three out of six breakpoints while her opponent converted all the five breakpoints that came her way.
Sania, who was seeded 16th in this WTA event, is struggling with her form after returning to the circuit after a three-month lay-off due to a wrist injury.
She had lost at WTA events in Birmingham, s'Hertogenbosch and at Wimbledon last month - all in the second round.
She was defeated by a British qualifier in the first round of the Stanford WTA tournament last week.
