Chennai, Jul 24: Yet another mysterious death was reported in the city, with the police recovering the body of a youth with his head smashed at Ayyappa Nagar, near Koyambedu, on Thursday, July 24.

With the people of the city already in the grip of fear of a pyscho killer, said to be behind the recent killing of seven people, including three watchmen, rumours flew thick and fast that this too could be the handiwork of the psycho on the prowl. However, police sources told UNI that it was a clear case of accident. ''A heavy vehicle might have run over him while crossing the road,'' was the theory put forth by the police, ruling out the involvement of the psycho killer.

The unidentified body was removed to the Government Hospital for post-mortem.

Notably, that people living in Ashok Nagar, Vadapalani and West Mambalam areas of the city were terrified, following a psycho killer targetting ragpickers and watchmen. His modus operandi was to fatally attack them, before setting the body ablaze.

Police have formed at least 15 special teams to nab the elusive killer and intensified night patrolling all over the city.

Chennai City Police Commissioner R Sekar exuded confidence of nabbing the fugitive and appealed to the people not to panic. He urged the people not to take law into their own hands under the guise of night patrolling.
