Agartala, Jul 24 (UNI) The postal employees in the north eastern region (NER) today demanded for a special attention to develop the infrastructure and postal communication network in the North East.
Postal officials said here that in the 31st Biennial Conference of the postal employees, held at Dibrugarh early this month, adopted a unanimous resolution, demanding to speed up the infrastructure development work for social and economic growth in the region.
They felt that the postal communication network, along with railroad communication, had been neglected.
Due to wrong policies of the Centre, private business was flourishing tremendously, posing a serious threat to the existence of postal service, they alleged.
The postal officials also demanded that the Nataraja Murthi Pay Commission should consider special duty allowance and grant the same to the Gramin Dak Sevak employees working in the NER.
They also urged that special duty allowance be ensured to all Group C and D employees working in the region without any condition of transfer.
