Plea for modern scientific medicine status to Unani
Bhopal, Jul 24 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Unani Medical Association (UMA) has alleged that the state government was adopting step-motherly attitude towards the Indian medicinal systems Unani and Ayurvedic and threatened to launch agitation in support of their demands.
UMA President Dr Yousuf Khalil told reporters here today that the state government was yet to act on the Supreme Court's directive and a number of notifications issued by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) to grant modern scientific medicine status to Unani.
''The BJP government remained apathetic towards Unani and Ayurvedic systems despite assurances from Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan'', Dr Khalil regretted.
He said 40 posts for Unani and Ayurvedic doctors should be filled up soon with equal distribution under National Rural Health Mission.
Dr Khalil said a delegation of the Association would meet the Chief Minister to urge him to look into their nine point demands.
The Unani doctors would resort to agitation from next week if their demands were not conceded immediately, he added.
