People affected by Metro Rail Project protest
Mumbai, Jul 24 (UNI) Residents and shop-keepers of Versova, Andheri and Ghatkopar areas of the Metropolis, wherein the proposed Mumbai Metro Rail is supposed to be constructed, have threatened an agitation against MMRDA and Reliance Infrastructure, if they are not rehabilitated in the same locality.
Speaking at a press briefing here, Mr Prakash Hinolkar, the president of Metro Railway Project Affected Persons Action Committee (MRPAPAC), said the locals have worked hard for the last five to six decades in the area and should be rehabilitated in the area itself.
''We are not against the proposed project, but we want the shop-keepers to be rehabilitated in the proposed mall nearby and the residents should also be rehabilitated in the vicinity as per the government rule,'' said Mr Hinolkar.
The committee members of MRPAPAC said, if the government does not heed to their demands and goes ahead with their plans of the Metro Rail, they will be forced to agitate.
