Pay compensation to a subscriber for faulty service, SCDRDC to BSNL
Srinagar, Jul 24 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC) here has directed Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to pay compensation for causing mental and physical agony to a customer.
Adjudging a complaint filed by the General Manager, BSNL against the Consumer Protection Forums decision of February 26, 2006 filed by Mr Ghulam Nabi Kanth of Green Park, Bye-Pass, Hyderpora about the faulty service.
The SCDRC has upheld the decision of the forum in settling the disputes.
While disposing off the appeal, the BSNL has been directed to pay Rs 10,000 to the consumer as compensation for causing mental and physical agony to him alongwith Rs 2000 as litigation charges.
In addition, the BSNL has been directed to pay Rs 5000 as cost for filing a merit-less complaint.
The whole amount is to be paid within one month, the commission said.
